Once more, my memory is going down the drain. -.-;; I complete Twin Whites while back, but never got down to posting it. Well, it's still winter in places blessed with having four seasons, so I guess it's still relevant in some way! (To think I wanted to make the entire piece Christmas instead of winter themed ><.) While this is long overdue, I managed to finish it before the term started! :D I wanted to make it a little more complex but only managed to get the clouds drawn before I got tired and a tad annoyed >< (overall, I think I spent more time on the clouds than with the rest of the piece on a whole). Anyway, before I rant/rave on, here it is!

Twin Whites

As I've mentioned in one of my earlier posts, after watching RotG, I found myself drawing quite a few parallels between the protagonist, the playful Jack Frost, and my favourite Hetalia character, Gilbert Beilschmidt. Of course the most obvious similarity is rather evident -- a lovely head of silver, a cheeky disposition, older sibling (who is I dare say, rather protective of their younger siblings), and if I push it a little, adorable pets (re: Baby Tooth took a liking to Jack, and the ever lovely Gilbird) and similar outfits (which was what I tried to showcase in this piece).

This is the first time I'm doing a crossover attempt, and surprisingly, also my sole attempt at trying to draw Gil darling properly /is fail. I was unfortunately either never inspired enough to do a solo piece of him, or was so painfully lacking in the technical skill to draw military garb that I end up too discouraged to attempt. Either way, his Halloween outfit is more within my range of ability (hoodies and jeans? Comfy and chic! :D), so why not? The branch idea was inspired by Jack always flying and whizzing around in the night sky in the movie, so I wanted to try drawing the moon in the background :D. Also, the silver of the moon works well with the atmosphere doesn't it? Yea, the branches are not really realistic in terms of structure, but for the sake of variety and dynamism, let's just go with it shall we? Finally, I had ton of fun colouring this piece! :D Tried a new style for the clouds to make it a tad more 'shiny' for a little more realism, but wasn't confident enough to try it for the foreground yet. (Baby steps yea?) Overall, I'm kinda pleased with how this turned out! <3

So another piece I've been working on is for Katsuya's birthday~ (Today! :DDDD Happy Birthday darling~) Yes, I said 'working on' so it's still a WIP, but hey, I'm putting more effort into this piece so it justifies it being late... Right? OTL I wanted to try something new this time (re: my usual omg 1 character in a cool pose with rhyme or reason behind it kinda pieces), so I'm going to try a mini comic! The last time I did this was wit When Darkness Falls a personal comic that isn't posted online cause of quality reasons :X, and discontinued a while back), and even so the strips are usually like 3-4 tiny frames at most. This isn't some massive 10-frame thing but I did try to vary the perspective a little more in lieu of all the doujins I've been reading (xD), so hopefully it makes sense! :D Here's the nearly completed version~ Just literally a couple more frames and I'm done!

Katsuya looks kinda weird (I still have no idea how his hair works, so it looks different each time), and admittedly the perspective is a tad strange for the last panel, but hey! At least I'm trying something new huh? :D And 'sides, I'm rather happy with the 3rd frame, especially since it isn't fully referenced! /o/

Until I finish Katsuya's birthday piece! Sorry for not finishing it in time dearie! ;A; It's the thought that counts right? ^^;;

Ahh, I nearly forgot to post this up ><. So I agreed to participate in my club's secret santa earlier in the previous semester. I nearly forgot about it, ending up with me rushing my side of the bargain a day before it's due ><. It was a nice enough drawing practice, although it meant that I couldn't (and still haven't T_T) touched my Jack 'n' Gil piece yet. Colouring was obviously rushed, and the darn Christmas tree took forever to do the lineart for. I should've just coloured it straight instead of lining it first... Poses are a tad awkward since I didn't reference, and background hastily thrown in because I had to rush out for Christmas dinner :X. So here's my end of the trade!

'Tis the Season to be Jolly

I originally wanted Alfred to just show the Arthur angel ornament to Arthur, but decided at the last minute that I wanted to practice character interaction with other objects ><. So yes, I did draw a larger version of the angel, as you can see here. I only coloured it in after resizing it, so there's no nicely coloured version of it (which is a good thing since I was so pressed for time anyway). Hope the recipient likes it! And in return, i received this lovely gem! (Yes, that is our club's official LJ for trades and whatnot~)

So after that, I thought hey, I'm pretty much done with drawing for the year! I can continue with my WIPs at my own time :D! However, I got a call fro

bulletthestars wo days before the end of the year, asking me to pinch hit a trade before New Year's Day. Apparently, some inconsiderate persons either forgot, or couldn't be bothered to inform the mod of their incompetence/inability to participate, even after being granted extensions. Since I agreed to pinch hit for one person in my application, I was obliged to agree; and 'sides, it didn't have to be elaborate (i.e. I thought I could finish it in-between going out with my folks, dinners, and meeting people).

Unfortunately, I wasn't familiar with the list of series provided by the other party (Vocaloid and One Piece), and I haven't touched CLAMP works in ages (I only know of Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles...), leading me to spend a bit of time looking for references. Better yet, I've no idea if the person was a male or a female, so picking a character was a huge pain ><. Discussed who to draw with Zeen, and finally decided on TRC since it's a lot more recent, and I did follow the series religiously over a couple of years before dropping it. The character I felt most comfortable drawing was Sakura (and 'sides, she ha lovel outfits), so I went ahead with it while forgetting tha I've not drawn a single female character in two years and that's not an exaggeration). So yea, proportions look rather odd but here it is!

I Remember

Mokona looks really un-adorable, I apologise OTL. I wish I could've done a background with large drapes and a lovely stained glass window but hey, I literally had less than half a day to finish it since I was busy the day I got the call, and I'd a New Year's Eve dinner to attend the day after. I literally sent the email out 5 minutes before I left the house. Phew! The recipient was partial enough towards it so mission accomplished! :D Hope she didn't notice that I couldn't find a full body reference of Sakura in this outfit so I just improvised on certain parts ><. Had tons of fun colouring her outfit, and at least she looks kinda like a girl! :D

So with that, I'm disappearing off into my mugger cave in anticipation of the coming semester. Hopefully I'll find time to finish my Twin Whites piece! T_T Until then, and Happy New Year ya'll!

I should've been asleep hours ago, but bleh, who dictates when inspiration strikes? I've been planning to draw for weeks after my finals but bleh, only found time in my self-made schedule to do so today OTL. That said, it's mostly my own fault for wanting to play all my games. In a row. Nonstop. >< And when I finally feel like drawing, I'm either a) too tired b) too engrossed in my game(s) c) inspired to do something else as well. What finally made me draw was the movie "The Rise of the Guardians", featuring Chris Pine as Jack Frost (aka Prussia lookalike :'D)~ The fangirl in me was overwhelmed with both Jack and Gil thoughts and feelings since yesterday (watched it with

daemon_angelus :D), and after sleeping the entire day away (well, I woke at 1pm, and napped again from 2-7pm...), could only find some quality 'me' time to draw after bro slept a couple of hours ago. @_@ Anyway, here's a rough WIP of the two snowy bishies! :D

I was going to make them fully symmertrical but I got lazy, and then figured practising more dynamic movements is a better choice :D. Not sure if I want to clean it up and colour it in proper since well, my games are still unfinished; let's just see if my inspiration will carry me through it xD.

Shall head off before my incoherence embarasses me further through some form of faux pas I'm otherwise not known for. Hope the Sandman fills our nights with golden dreams~ :D

Remember how in the previous post I was complaining about 3 mid-terms and 2 essays? This time round, it's 2 cases, 2 presentations, 1 essay, 1 lab report, and a final. Each is worth 30% of my grade -.-;;. And guess who is still reeling from the last 'hell week' and decided to 'take a break' until the 21st of October. Definitely overestimated my ability to take this many heavy workload modules at a go. I wanted to do a Halloween kinda sketch originally, but decided that the composition of the image will take up time I barely have to spare, yet I didn't want to just do another sketch dump because well, the challenge isn't the same. I was reading more puppyshipping fics before it hit me that Seto's birthday is on the 25th! So here's my first ever birthday art for a character~ :3

Take Me Home
I did want to post this on LJ yesterday, but god, I was rushing work until 6am this morning before I fell asleep (it felt more like fainting to be honest -.-;;. Everything just... Disappeared and I knocked out.), before waking at noon, barely submitting my group's case on time, and rushing off to a meeting which I was an hour late for. Anyway, when other artists do birthday art for Seto, most just draw him in a suit and holding a bouquet of roses, or cosying up with his various pairings, and I didn't want to go down the same road since it's boring, and I can't execute the latter :X. Since his birthday is on a weekday, it is unlikely that he will skip work to celebrate it (come on, to him a birthday is no different from a normal working day, albeit more annoying xD). So based on that concept, the idea of train ride popped into my head and this is the result!

Thought it was a good way of practising perspective with this particular piece, to make sure I'm comfortable with anatomy in general. Not exactly a complete success, but proportion wise, I don't think it looks too bad. And since a train backdrop isn't too difficult to draw, I decided to put in a little more effort and create a more decent looking background. No references were used surprisingly, with the exception of scenery (because I can barely draw properly, what makes you think I can conjure up a scenery otherwise? T_T). Had great fun trying to draw it, and it turned out better than expected~ It definitely made me realise the importance of having a collection of different brushes for sure -.-;;. The original sketch was motion blurred at around 10px to create the illusion that the train is moving. Perhaps I should have blurred it a little more since I doubt Seto will be in anything else but a high speed luxury train. -.-;;

The colour scheme selected is based on trains I've been in, and Seto's suit is the inverse of his usual blue/white scheme to make it easier for me to colour :P. While I was sketching, I realised the entire composition looked a little too plain (no, I unfortunately do not have a habit of planning, and that includes drawing ><), so I tossed in some documents and half a tray with a slice of birthday cake on it. Didn't want to go with an empty plate because in my mind, the great Seto Kaiba is just above trifles such as sweet desserts xD, so yea, the cake's just going to sit there untouched. When doing up the various paper 'documents', I actually wrote a 'letter' out for kicks haha. Yes, it is dated on Seto's birthday, and no, there is no birthday wish.

The other letter Seto's holding is from Mokie (hence the nii-sama on it). As much as he tries to hide from celebrations and whatnot, I can imagine that Seto is still appreciative, and perhaps kinda touched by Mokie's yearly remembrance of his birthday. And because of that, perhaps being home might even be better than travelling alone. Who says Kaibas are always heartless pricks? :P

Hopefully when my insane semester ends I'll have more time to draw ><. I've a couple of pieces from eons ago I've yet to inked, and so many ideas in my head. And maybe if I dare, I may even squeeze out a couple of hours to sketch my new video game crush - Piers Nivans :D. His loyalty and selflessness immediately made him my favourite character in this installment; probably helps that he is quite a looker too hehe. Did I mention Piers is modeled after a model/actor? :D

So my 2nd year of university has finally ended, and I was looking forward to a nice break from the insanely hectic schedule of a Business student. (I swear, without projects, I wouldn't have spent 4 completely sleepless nights rushing nonsense.) Although I have around 2 weeks of free time before I fly off for my internship (which is tomorrow), I had so much I wanted to do and so much I had to do that I ended up with a schedule not unlike that during my school term. Not complaining much though since I got to meet most of my friends before I leave! :Db Not too shabby!

So wayyyyy back in Jan, the local Gang decided to do up our beloved domesticated cockroach's present. But thanks to my group needing to prepare for a major presentation early in the semester, our progress gradually dwindled until it finally came to a halt. Oops. We didn't forget about it (although we had to apologise to said cockroach ><) and decided to finish the final touches of it once the semester is over. I was supposed to draw an Alcohol family for the Gang (we spent an entire day deciding on who's who, it was great fun!!) since it's the big 21 this year, but couldn't finish them before the first hell week @_@. Redid the entire set over this week and it's finally ready for the present! :D

(For members of the Gang who are reading this, the numbers correspond to when our birthdates are. So I'm number 5! :D Also the odd one out since we didn't realise margarita was the only drink which was a combination of alcohol, thus not coming in a bottle. -.-;;. Since I'm the head of our family, it doesn't matter I guess! :D)

Each drink is referenced (since I rarely drink, unless it's champagne or red wine and occasional cocktails when I'm out) but with smilies on them in attempts to make them look cute :D. The original was much less elaborate with basic colouring but argh, I didn't really like them after viewing them once more so yeap, new style! More info on the drinks (a random interesting fact too) and well-wishes will be written behind the card as well~ :D Quite happy with how they look!

I really wish I could've coloured them for fun but argh, I need to pack for my trip ><. And since China's Great Wall hates LJ, I may not be able to post until I return for my birthday (yay!) or near the end of summer hols. Either way, wish me luck for my internship! >< Finance in Chinese will be the death of me.

Current Music: Mock the Week S10E2

Managed to finish the drawing! :D Couldn't decide if I should include a background or not so I ended up redoing slip shod backgrounds until now. That said, I was distracted by the WLIIA videos playing on my iPad next to me xD. Trust me to multitask even when I'm supposedly doing something leisurely eh?

I'm sure you guys would have guessed that the person I'm drawing is Jeff B. Davis~ :D Because he's my first 'celeb'/real life person crush :'3. Kinda embarrassing to admit to since I'm leaving the realm of the young and tax-less this year. I guess I can take it as me finally maturing but that said, others usually associate having celebrity idols as a past time of teenagers. Not really the image a wannabe financial advisor should project eh? Before I rattle on more, here's the link!

Gentleman Misfit
I'm actually really happy with how this one turned out! Seeing how I rushed it in a single day and without using as many references as compared to before. Maybe I'm finally getting used to drawing guys! :Db One of the rare times during which I've tried to make the character I'm drawing interact with the environment, in this case, the stool! ~~It was actually a fluke since I didn't really position him specifically, I just drew and hoped for the best.~~ Jeff's hair was a pain to get right. ._. It's curly yet spiky at the top; how long does he spend doing his hair anyway?? Thankfully I tend to draw guys in suits (thank you Seto for always making me draw you in an awesome suit) so that wasn't too different hehe! I think the hardest part was cartoonising Jeff before drawing. It's one thing to create fanart of an animated character (The lines are already defined and the style present, so you just... Copy.) but another to draw a real person. I truly admire those who can do it effortlessly. OTL Because well, my Jeff doesn't really look like Jeff :X. Hopefully he looks tall enough! (Damn guy is taller than 190cm. -.-;;)

Decided to do a background since eh, partly because I thought a white background looked too boring to be submitted on DA again and it's easier to watermark that way. I wanted to do a proper bar scene but looking at the time, I scrapped that idea and created something that suggests a bar scene xD. Cheating but hey, I think it works! Kinda! Made a mini poster to make it less pathetic :P. Yea, the words at the bottom are unreadable after I added in the city silhouette but they aren't visible at all in the original picture so I ignored changing them. The silhouette brush is from the SS Urban Vector Design pack which I saved over 5 years ago. @_@ Will probably update the credit if I find it again.

Colouring it was fun! I really miss digital colouring. D: I think I kind of... Dare I say, improved? I'm really pleased with the way the suit and wine glass turned out, which is a real treat since I had more fun than dread and frustration when I coloured them. Took a shortcut with Jeff's hair :P. My excuse? As mentioned above, the directions of his hair confused me. Colours selected were partially based on items he own, although the whole ensemble is not something he's worn before. I love this tie and his magical 'Duststorm' socks so I threw them both on :D! /ends super long rave. ~~Can you tell I miss writing about my drawing process? xD~~

No, I'm not done with this post yet. Not when I know I won't be able to post for a month or two T_T. So while I was drawing, I figured that I should make a new icon to celebrate drawing my first real life person! I know, it's just an excuse for me to spend more time on Photoshop :P. 'Sides, I need an icon to show my love and jubilation in comments/posts!

Decided not to sign off on it this time since it's as cluttered as it is now heh. Which I've to say, is more similar to my usual "squeeze-everything-into-the-smallest-amount-of-space-possible" style. Nothing much to say about it besides I love how I managed to include a mixture of dreary brown and light orange/pink in the same icon xD.

Here's to hoping I continue to love the WL boys enough for me to draw more real people! Until post-semester I guess!

Looks like I did manage to finish by Wednesday! :D I didn't think I'd have time/feel like finishing it after not touching it for a day (had a 7-hour long meeting yesterday. Yes, you read it right)... I did rush the colouring though... Can't afford to spend too much time on it. >< Edited the badge and ignored another which was supposed to be on the pocket (outfit is based on USAF General's~) because I'm lazy :D. I'm quite happy with how the clothes are coloured, especially since I 'got it right' on the first try xD. Cheated on the hair because no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to look the way I'd originally wanted it to be D:. 'Sides, less details on the hair means that I can get away with sloppy colouring for the rest of the picture. /shot

Yeap, it's a tribute piece for the 10th anniversary of 9/11! Bet you didn't see that one coming! :P Kidding aside, I really really wanted to do something to commemorate this occasion even though it never really affected me directly in any way. I remember when the incident first happened, one of my classmates organised a mini prayer session for those who'd perished. I was still pretty indifferent to the whole thing then, since it felt more like a movie to me than anything else, but I still joined in for respect. It's only recently that I realised how huge a milestone 9/11 was in not just the war on terror, but also in today's world in general. One reason why I wasn't allowed to go overseas for college was the fear my parents had that a terrorist attack would occur when I was there, and perhaps causing me to lose my life. Still, I attributed that to my parents' paranoid nerves because to me, it was too distant an event to really affect me on a deep emotional level.

This apathy continued despite echoes of this event occasionally crossing my path. Be it in the form of a school play or a class assignment, I could always conjour up logical sympathy but nothing more. It was only after watching documentaries on 9/11 and hearing the stories of various individuals about how their entire lives were changed because of that one event, did it really hit home as to what a catastrophe the 9/11 was. Instead of being just another event one would read about in the news, real people -who were not too different from myself- went about with their lives during that fateful day, not knowing that it'd be their last day on earth, the last time they'd ever see their loved ones. And that struck something within me (perhaps it was the chilling realisation that it could have happened to anyone). Even though it's been a decade since the 9/11, something in me just made me want to honour those who'd lost their lives in any way I could. Something to remember them by, and to remind myself that life is indeed that short and unpredictable. There's nothing fancy about this piece, and it was even a rushed job at certain parts but it makes a part of me feel slightly better that those people are not forgotten.

RIP to those whose lives had been snuffed out during that fateful day.

It's one thing to draw for fun and another to draw for a... Bigger cause? Especially when you are doing designs for your club, you want it to be done to the best of your ability. Partly because you don't want others to laugh at it, partly because I hate delivering something I deem as mediocre or 'unseeable'. That led me on a super long process of drawing, redrawing, colouring and recolouring. The premise was to create chibi mascots for each of the three departments in my club (Productions, Public Relations and Member Relations), which will be introduced during the upcoming Freshies Fair along with the new club structure. And since I've never really fully designed anything and stuck with it (even with my OCs), that was a huge problem. It meant that I couldn't randomly draw lines because there's a high possiblility that I needed to recreate them in the future D:.

Getting into the right mindset to design them was rather difficult... Especially since I need to visualise each chibi from all angles. Colour selection was a pain (since I'm pretty much a default colour = black person when I dress...) but after browsing through my closet, it got SLIGHTLY better. Drawing poses was another obstacle for me, seeing how I'm terrible with anatomy in general @__@;;. Took me several tries and some references before I could get them right, and even so, I don't think they are fully accurate DDDD:. All the complaints aside, I actually had quite a lot of fun doing the chibis. It was the first time I was this determined to properly design characters and to stick to my drawing schedule (which was really difficult since I was, and am still barely at home daily...). So I'm happy :D. Not bad for a first timer!

Sorry for the watermark @_________@. But since this isn't just for my own personal use, I can't just sign off and be done with it.. That aside, the chibis were named to make them more relatable xD. So it's Fae-chan for Productions, Kei-chan for Public Relations and twins Yui and Rui-chan for Members Relations! Why twins for the last one? Because I've a natural bias towards females but I didn't want the guys to feel left out. -.-;; So to ensure equality, twins! That'll make 2 male and 2 female chibis! Fae's supposed to be more... Quirky because she's the artistic one (drawing, writing, desiging, crafts etc); Kei's the cooler hardworking dude who manages the club's relations outside (hence the more 'suave' look? LOL); the twins... Well, I couldn't think of an outfit which embodied the typical anime fan so... Random jackets (because jackets make everything cooler) and Gundam inspired pants (cosplay)! Camera for the photography lovers and cards for potential duelists! I'm assuming the 'couch potato' kinda fans will just go, "Oh! Chibis! I like!" so yea OTL. So, a couple of days ago I posted my WIP lineart for a KaiJou picture. I finished colouring it and all last night/this morning but was too ~~lazy~~ tired to post it. Colouring it was great fun to do (as usual xD) but with its own challenges since I picked a 45 degree upper corner lighting angle to work with DDDD:. It looked like a nice angle to play with but it's easy with one person, not with two! I doubt I got the shading right but oh well, I'll just observe light angles more now I guess! But why on earth do they still look better uncoloured? OTL

I'm quite surprised as to how decent this one looks, as compared to my usual half-sketched-half-drawn works! If it looks slightly different from the lineart, it's because I tweaked some mistakes I'd found /fail. Seto was hard to colour because of the additional shadows casted on him by Katsuya. Even his hair didn't spare me any headaches -.-;;. I realised that the less detailed your lineart is, the harder it is to colour something, because you can't smoke your way through by using the lineart to provide shape and volume. Thankfully mullets are easy to visualise and work with so after the first few minutes of hair-tearing, it got progressively better. I can't say the same for both their clothes though. ;A;

After I'd finished colouring the both of them, I figured I might as well do a background to make the image easier for me to work with when I use it for graphics. So being the pathetic person I am, the only background I can do relatively decently without butchering is sky + clouds. Gradient + white brushes of different opacities = win! :D And it allows me to show the source of light so I don't feel that my shading looks oddly awkward T_T. Turned into a 'polaroid' thingum because it looks odd without a border xD. Slapped on some cliché words because I'm lame like that and whee~ I'm done!

As I'd mentioned in my previous post, on rare occasions, I did sketch these two in the past. I recalled being rather happy when I sketched them then so what's more fun than digging up some old works for laughs?

Since I'm flying off on my family holiday tomorrow night/Thursday morning, I'll not be able to do any digital drawings in over a week D:. Not even my usual nonsensical sketches and whatnot. So I decided to squeeze out the remnants of my artistic urges and do a quickie. I spent a good two hours staring at the blank canvas on Photoshop thinking of what to draw. (I'm ignoring the fact that I did a good number of doodles then but hey, I'm talking about decent art!) The clock was ticking and I really really wanted to draw something so I looked over and saw my Hetalia artbook. Let's draw some quick Hetalia fanart! :D I've always sketched the characters randomly but never really churned out anything decent enough for me to let others see xD. Picking a subject was easy, quick Hetalia fanart = chibi America~! :D

Looks like it can be completed in under an hour or something eh? Apparently not. I spent goodness knows how long drawing and redrawing the lineart D:. All because I completely forgot that I'm terrible at drawing chibis (why else would I prefer to do normal sketches instead!!!) I betcha if I had drawn Alfred normally, I would have completed it much sooner OTL. As usual, had a ton of fun colouring without bothering to clean up the lineart. Didn't bother with perspective since it was meant to be a 'quickie'. Added in Mochi England because... USUK is <3~! Don't ask why he is standing on the US flag... White was the best colour for the words so =/... And I needed a background before they could be seen ^^;. No disrespect meant though!

Just when I was deciding on the colours, Karrot popped by randomly (asking for a drink too HAHA) and surprised me with an early gift (from her and Beck)! \*w*/ And... It's a shirt/blouse with the stars and stripes design on it! /diesofhappiness So what better design for chibi America's shirt than the design of the shirt they got me? TvT Thank you so much dearies~!!!

On another note, was wondering if I should... Submit this randomly to the newsletter? Just so they have more material or something LOL. Not sure if I should do an England equivalent~! *W* Damn it, now I want to draw even more! /failfailfail

I lovelovelove the Gang! :D You guys never fail to put a smile, no matter how silly or unglam looking, on my face! :D <3~! I better get down to doing the project I've planned for ages then D:...

I really really felt like doing some WoW fanart, but I doubt I can pull Illidan or Sylvanas off without butchering either so... Original WoW art it is! And what's better is that I can try my hand at making 'comics-styled' strips! :D Which by the way, is WAYYYY harder than it looks D:. The character is based on a story I had in my head since I started playing BC (thanks to Illidan :D) with influence from my experience in Vanilla. Oh man, I miss those days...

Lame attempt 1!

I've been playing with perspective recently, however minor a shift from my usual front-facing sketches, so I was thinking doing a mini web comic-esque thingumajig can give me more reason to keep at it! I've seen sooooo many web comic artists grow just by doing so, however casually, and I really really admire the effort they put in to make the strip both entertaining and aesthetically pleasing. I doubt I can do either but hey, drawing practice! Pathetic background because I got bored after doing the first row of grass. Love how I don't need to clean the lineart up if I draw it really big and resize it xD (at the loss of details but meh). That's not the main character but xD I'm more comfortable drawing guys, sadly.

No idea how often I'll draw it but hey, as long as I continue to love WoW, I bet I'll keep drawing xD. As for the title... It just popped into my head. ~~Because I'm lame like that.~~ Let's just see how this goes then! :D

EDIT: I just realised after looking through my art, that my headshots/close ups look VERY different from my full body drawings... OTL I fail.

So I was tempted by my Catalysm expansion pack (which sits right in front of me if I use my laptop) so I decided to play the 10-day WoW trial (without expansions), just to see how much has changed. Well... Quite a bit has changed: zones, quests, people, lore etc... It's kinda... Foreign yet familiar. While I don't really love it, I do love how the original lore is more intricately woven into the quests as compared to the past few expansion packs. Kinda like Vanilla, just with a ton of stupid Worgens running around. Anyone fancy a noob Worgen teammate called xXxJaC0bBlAcKxXx? I'd rather tank in cloth thank you very much. Or wash an orc's feet. Questing is a lot easier (silly modern gamers who complain if they spend more than 5 minutes grinding) and a lot more flight paths are added (cheaters). So much so that I managed to level a character of each race I had access to (8) to level 20 every single day. And that's just with me playing at night -.-;;. I do miss and love WoW though. Still considering if I should go back...

Rantings aside, no, I didn't do any WoW fanart (yet), but a dear friend of mine had her birthday a couple of days back. Well, me being epic fail, couldn't think of anything she wanted or needed. So I took the easy way out and finally sketched a Spock x Kirk drawing for her! :D Which also marks my first time drawing two chracters interacting! :D She's a HUGE, as in really, HUGE fan of Star Trek, and I can't afford the authentic figurines so... That'll do I guess? She asked me to draw that pairing before but heh, I'm a bum so I never really got down to doing it... Gives me a good opportunity to try out new drawing and colouring techniques I've learnt anyway ^^;.

June's a busy month!

I've NEVER watched Star Trek but thankfully there are tons of fanart of this pairing out there, so I happily used them as reference instead of movie stills @_@. Had a ton of fun drawing their clothes (I think I'm finally getting the hang of it? I hope? D:) but the poses... Oh man, the perspective gave me a ton of trouble. I didn't want to do the usual boring face front pose so... Yea. Since Spock isn't supposed to have emotions, after a battle and losing some men or something, I wanted it to seem like Kirk is semi-comforting Spock despite the latter showing little/no emotions? (But alas, my friend thought Spock looked sad DDDDD:) The hands were another hugely painful part to draw. They still look odd but pft, just focus on Spock's face or something! Oh, and generic random background because... I don't really know what setting they should be in. ~~And I'm lazy.~~ Overall, it was real fun to do inbetween WoWing! :D And I'm glad she liked it :).

Soooo tempted to do a piece with a proper background! Or start on WoW fanart...

After 'forcing' myself to draw/sketch for the past few days, looks like I was finally able to attempt a 'proper' drawing! My arms are still aching terribly from gym on Thursday (yes, you read it right), to the point of me not being able to extend them fully D:. But still, after not being in the right frame of mind to read/write, and nothing nice was showing on TV, I decided to try drawing again! :D And what better way to kill time than to restart on the drawing challenge I dropped half a year ago?

After finishing Day 7, I did want to continue the challenge... Just that Day 8's topic was favourite animated character. I don't have to wreck my brains to think of which character to draw but... I can't draw him properly still. Despite having at least a favourite character I'm crazy over each series, my one true love will always be Genjyo Sanzo from Saiyuki! (There's just something about your first love which makes it special ;)). Since the creator of Saiyuki, Minekura, has godly artistic skills, trying to draw her characters is like attempting to scale Mount Everest. Despite that, I decided to give it a shot.

It's not great, but it's not terrible either! :D I don't think I butchered my darling that badly... Right? =/ Even though I've loved Sanzo since I was... 11? 12? I've never... Drawn him before. /theshame! After looking through my recent sketches, I was rather adamant on preserving some of his masculinity, resulting in me drawing and redrawing this piece. And that was before I had intended to change the sketch from a headshot to a full body drawing. -.-;; Needless to say, I got lazy afterwards and couldn't be bothered to ink the rest of the lineart properly but it was kinda fun anyway! And yes, I need to practice human anatomy more D:.

Shall do the next one... When I feel like it! Here's to wishing I dream of Sanzo today! :DDDDDDDDD

So I've managed to finish my WIP earlier in the evening xD. I have to admit it was great fun to do and I am rather pleased with how it came out! Apparently, a friend commented that the WIP looked like that of the White Witch with uglier hair xD. Well, hence it's called WIP yea! Now that I look at her again in the WIP, she does look older and more 'wrinkled' xD. Maybe it's the colour and lack of details... Anyway, here's the final version! Presenting Hermione Granger from Harry Potter! xD

I have to admit that her outfit's not the most accurate :P. But this was pretty close to how I'd originally imagined her, without a Gryffindor scarf wrapped around her neck in a loose loop though! I originally wanted her to look more impeccable but I've decided to go for a slightly touseled look. The reason was Hermione was supposed to have this mane of untameable curly hair xD. And since she is pretty much a bookworm, appearance wouldn't be the first thing she'd think of. Still, she would want to look neat since she follows the rules to the nine when possible. Hence the tied up hair, smoothed out uniform but with the sleeves unbuttoned xD. Personally, I find that more comfy.

I didn't want to model this after Emma Watson because she's too pretty for the Hermione in my head (and I did omit the freckles she was supposed to have too xD) and Emma protrayed Hermione as one who had her hair straightened after the 4th movie. One less Emma looking Hermione wouldn't kill too :P.

I'll be putting off the Drawing Challenge first since I'm going out for the next couple of days and I'll be flying off for my trip next Wednesday @_@... Hopefully I'll still get the challenge done though! D:

Bleh. I didn't realise how hectic university life would be. And I also didn't realise how crappy it is too. Sigh. Best put up with it before I attempt to jump off a building or something -.-;;. So I no longer have time for graphics D:, but I'm doodling once in a while and doing graphics/designing occasionally to destress. I really ought to be studying for mids but let's just say I am in need of this reprieve.

I've manage to earn over 1 million gold from my graphics board in Gaia hehe. I'm thinking of doing a bribe only board next. Apparently people are willing to pay a lot more than the prices I had stated. O_o Yay me? And maybe a doodle board too! I need to start drawing again... T_T Anyway, here's a gift long due for a Gaia friend (who left Gaia too T_T). I promised him a head sketch of his dream avvie and his succubus so here it is xD. It's a really rough sketch rushed in a hour or so because I can't spend too much time drawing as much as I'd like to. So I didn't get to clean it up or colour it properly. Instead, I'll just keep it in its raw form and several coloured bits for less monotony xD. And yes, the avvie is male. I draw girlie guys D:. Damn you bishies!!! :3 I got lazy so I drew the succy as a chibi haha. Oh, and the avvie is modelled after his WoW warlock :DDDD. Fellow lock!!! :DDD That's how I met him too hehe. Is it even possible to fall in love with a character from an anime you know NOTHING about? Apparently so. (Even for YGO, I watched several episodes before starting to obsess over our lovely blonde and brunette. :D) I'm not complaining though. I was trolling quizilla because I'm bored like that and found several REALLY hilarious and epic fanquizzes on the Akatsuki and needless to say, I fell in love with that evil ninja organisation. Not the best excuse huh. Still, Sasori stood out from the rest and after seeing the first ever picture of him, I decided that he'll be my favourite character of the series xD.

Puppet Master...Ninja??

I did some reading up on him and turns out he *is* almost a full puppet himself. O_o He did become a complete one in the end but bleh, I shall disregard that for I can't swoon over a dude who isn't really alive... Right? Thought his chakra threads were real pretty so I just drew a ton of them in the picture xD. I dreaded colouring the cloak though and I still don't like how it turned out, although I think all the headshot practices I did paid off :P. And I realised my nails are close to the colour of the chakra threads! It's fate I tell ya! Couldn't find a standard colour for his eyes so I went with orange-ish! I still like how this turned out (I mean first humanish piece in ages!) despite the boring backgrund xD.

Here's to more Akatsuki love and fueling my fangirl needs via fanquizzes and fanart! No, I'm not going to watch Naruto. :P

I shall never listen to music videos when drawing on Photoshop unless I relish the idea of laggy brush strokes. I was silly enough to listen to the videos instead of the pure mp3 version HAHA. Anyway, was pondering as to what to draw yesterday and decided I should do a gift art for a friend of mine :D. It's a nice way of cheering someone up too HAHA. Picking from her crazy list of permies, I decided to do one of her Pirate Xweetok :D. I mean I did draw xweetoks several times before so maybe that was why I picked it xD. Lazy me.

Arrrrrr!

I do like how this piece turned out :D. Not perfect but a lot better than the usual 1-2 hour nonsense I toss out. I see shading mistakes, anatomy errors and some unclean lines etc but bleh. I just felt like I wanted to do a proper looking one for once :D. It's nothing when compared to some of the crazily talented artists out there but it's my own personal improvement so I'm still happy :D. Besides, what made my day was when my friend told me she liked it :P.

So here's to hoping I churn out more decent nonsense next time!

Bleh. Time indeed flies. It only seemed like yesterday during which I was struggling to accept my 'A' level grades and what seemed like hours ago was my dilemma as to which university to go to. And now here I am, contented, and in China. And soon I'll be in university, cramming 2 courses worth of information and whatnot. And I'll graduate in the blink of an eye and I'll head out to the 'real' world to work. I feel like a clockwork robot. Almost. Thankfully, I've other pleasures in life, like art.

So I've finally decided to draw during my time in China. All the gorgeous scenery and beautiful artworks and landscapes just spur one's artistic side on. So I ended up doodling nature related stuff. Simple stuff. 2 items slapped onto a thatched background. All while soothing and serene piano pieces were playing in the background. It was almost like I'd entered a whole new world. Sigh. Why must real life kick in so soon?

And this is when I hide in a corner.

My godfather who was an artist for decades happened to see me working on it and damn, did I feel embarrassed. Sigh. Oh the bright side, he didn't say it was bad. xD At least I kinda like how the colours turned out. Until I can do decent full sized drawings, these'll have to do. Of course, my drawing do no justice to Nature but it did reflect the whimsical mood I was in.

I did this a while back, around the mid of July. I won't hide the fact that I had practically forgotten about this journal so yea. Managed to clinch 1st in the Koi category and 22nd overall. Not too bad for a not too popular species and my first BC. I do like the shiny new trophy though!
